Invent a new review game for the end of a chapter. How would it be structured? Would there be a clearly-defined winner? Make sure this game incorporates everyone in the class, where everyone is actively reviewing the material on some level.
First, make groups of 2~4 people, and then Mr. Jobe writes down the problem on the board. Then each one of them solve first, and then they share their answers to their group members. After looking at others' answers, the group chooses one answer that everyone agrees on, and then when they get it correct, they get points!
Mr. Jobe prepares a jeopardy game, which can be made by searching up google, then the students get in groups of 2-4. There are different categories or chapters in the jeopardy and each questions worth different points. Mr. Jobe chooses which group goes first and if they can't solve the question, the next team gets a chance to steal the point. After all questions are solved, the team that has the highest score wins!
I think that for a chapter review, you have to review all the sections. So the review game would be on ALL the sections that the class covered. The students would not be in groups. However, they would make the problems and pass them around to the other students so that they could try to solve them. Mr. Jobe could also give some problems too. Each correct problem counts as a point. However, there are also penalties for getting things wrong. For example. if Student A gets Student D's problem wrong, Student A would lose a point and that point would go to Student D. During the middle of game, there would be sudden deaths where the students that have less than a certain amount of points are eliminated and are required to do worksheets. This would motivate the students to work hard to get the answers right.
First we get into a group of 4-5 people then we take a A4 paper and randomly choose numbers for each memeber depending on the number of kids there are. THen Mr. Jobe will post a question on the board and on the A4 paper each will solve the problem. THen on the next problem they change their papers with the person on the left or right and solve their problems on that page. Later on when the game is over somebody will check each paper and give a point for each right answer and then we can add all the points of all the sheets and see who has the highest total points.Since we rotate the sheets and everyone has their own different sheet each time they can try comparing their answeres with the answer written on the page. Also since there is no name nobody has to stress about who got it wrong and who got it right. THere would be a clearly - defined winner but EVERYONE WILL GET A CANDY :D
Create a jeopardy game that covers all the sections of that chapter. Have the students form into groups of 4 or 5. Let the students in each team solve the problem that they choose to answer individually. Choose an answer that they all agree on, and help those who have made mistakes or don't know what to do. Keep answering problems until none are left, and the team with the most points wins!
Idea........ Idea....... Cannot think of it right now, but i should make it up, right?haahhahaahh.... hmm....
First, get in to group of 2~3. Second, Mr.Jobe handout paper with a list of questions to the group. Third, Mr.Jobe rights answer to one of the question on the board(or you can read). Fastest Group who tells the question for the "answer" gets the point.
The class makes groups with equal number of students in it. One student from each group comes up and does rock-paper-scissors to find out an order. The winner picks one section of the chapter and Mr.Jobe writes down a question from that chapter on the board. Everyone in the class solves the question, and discuss within their group to agree on one answer. After some time (Mr.Jobe can decide the time limit),they send their answer in to Mr.Jobe to get the answers checked. If the group with the final winner in it gets the question correct, they gain a point. The other groups don't. However if that group gets it wrong, the second winner gets a point if they have the answer correct. If not, then it goes on until one group gains a point, or no groups. After the round, new people from groups will do rock-paper-scissors. It's a long explanation but there will be a clearly-defined winner (because the groups either get one point, or none).
When Mr. Jobe says/ writes the problem on the board, everyone solves it as quick as possible. As soon as you get your answer, you shout "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". Mr. Jobe would then come around to check your answer, and if it is right, he will give you a candy :) However, if the answer is wrong, the chance goes to the next person who shouted supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. We will enthusiastically participate in this game because we LUV candy:))))
Mr.Jobe writes down the problem on the board. Everyone works on it, and the fastest person that calls out the right answer gets a point. At the end of the game, the person with the most points is the winner.
Maybe you can make a jeopardy style game!! :D Mr. Jobe would play as Vanna White (-___-) and there would be numbers that are hidden by paper on the board. Like jeopardy, Vanna White (Mr. Jobe) would ... actually, you could make a powerpoint... (keynote) that would be much easier^__^ with all the huper links and categories and stuff. There are a lot of sites where they help you make jeopardy games ^__^ You could have a bunch of categories, such as: LCD, multiplication fractions, division of fractions, and whatever category there is possible for algebra.
Divide the classroom into ... three? or how many ever groups that would have an even amount of kids. ^__^
Ask one team to choose a money value in one of the categories.
They are given the question on the powerpoint or the ... board?
=___= I JUST FOUND OUT THAT OLIVIA IS DOING THE SAME THING AS ME =____0 lol. :D oh well, i shall continue ^__^
That team answers what the question and discuss what the answer is after solving it for themselves first.
If they get it wrong, then the next team can try.
If all the teams get it wrong, then Vanna White (Mr. Jobe) would help us with the math problem. hehe.
Then the next team would pick a category then move on and on and on and on. 0__0
hehe. well. OLIVIA said sorry, so I guess I'll accept your apology. hehe :D
:D :D : D :D :D :D HOPE I WAS HELPFUUUUUL:D hehe. :D -Ja Ne Yeo.
A new review game for the end of a chapter could be 'Around the World'. This game starts at the end of the room, with someone in the first desk stand next to the person in the desk behind them while Mr.Jobe asks them a math question. The first person to answer correctly moves onto the third desk and the other student sits down. Whoever manages to make their way around the entire classroom answering every question correctly is the winner.
I think that using food, prizes, and rewards (a limited amount increases competition) is the best method for participation. We could have a sort of treasure hunt for math answers, with questions around the classroom (or individually assigned). If you find the right answer, there will be another clue leading to the next question and answer. As you keep on finding the questions and finding the answers, it will lead you to candy or something, hidden in the room. In the end, it depends on how well you find it, and a definite winner is not present. Around half of the class will win.
divide the class into three or more groups and Mr. Jobe writes the problem on the board and one person from the group has to solve it(teammates can help)and Mr.Jobe will count to 15-20 secends and when the countdown's over, they'll have to hold their answers up. The group that got the answer correct, gets a point and they also get a chance to take a point off one of the opponent's score. If you are wrong, then there won't be any changes to your score. Everyone should take turns solving the problem so everyone gets a chance. The group that has the most point in the end wins! ^^
Sukwon 8th First, we make 2 equal teams. Then, one team gives a problem to other team. If other team gets the problem correct, they get a chance to give a question to opponent team. They keep giving questions to their opponent team until one team gets wrong. If the team gets the answer wrong, the team that gave hard question gets the point.
there are groups of students and they go around in order
There is a Word (long) on the board and there are sticky notes covering the word and each group goes around in turn to answer the question and whenever a group answers the right answer on the sticky note, the sticky note is removed revealing a part of the word.
At any point of the game a group could try and guess the word on the board.
Divide the class in 4 groups and do a tournament of math problems. So for example if there is team A,B,C and D, the tournament goes like A versus B, C versus D. And for example if A and D wins the games, A and D has to battle each other again. And if a wins, A becomes the real winner of the whole game
