The Home Stretch

One chapter left. One quiz left. Then the final. You're almost there! Write three adjectives to describe how you're feeling.

If you were to give some advice (or a warning) to the upcoming 7th graders, what would it be?

Will you work hard until the end, or give up because you're tired? Name two things you will do DIFFERENTLY from what you've done all year?

(You must answer all questions thoroughly to receive all points on this assignment. Remember, lame answer = lame grade.)

-don't pretend that since you learned something in hakwon, you don't have to listen. it's not the same, and hakwon and school are different and use different methods. -_- don't look down on math
-I WILL WORK HARD. The conclusion is just as important as the beginning. From now on, I think i'll take care of my homework and check due dates more meticulously. I've missed out on homework because i "thought" i finished it, and i end up doing math projects on the fly because I prioritized other things.

  2. 3 adjectives to describe how I feel-
    relieved
    worried
    happy

Some advice to the upcoming 7th graders:
*Just pay attention in class and you will ace everything!'0'~

I will work hard until the end, raise up some grades, because now is the only time to raise it before my mom sees the report card and get mad:(
I'll do all HW and ask if I don't get it...
Also I'll do the bonus stuff, if there is any.

  3. 1) You have to fully understand the concept of each lesson and solve at least 20 problems in each lesson (try some difficult problems as well). And you're good to go :D

    2) I will work hard until the end. Two things I'll do differently from what I've done all year are solving the Chapter Test at the end of Ch.11 and solve the Mixed Review Problems.

  4. Nervous. Excited. Relieved. :D

If I were to give advice for the upcoming 7th graders, I would say the following: HEY YOU LITTLE KIDS. You guys are 8th graders now. Stop losing your text books because it's really going to affect your grade if you don't bring it on material check days. So be sure to remember to bring it! *COUGH BRIAN COUGH* Be sure to not borrow any textbooks because it can be very annoying sometimes. *COUGH BRIAN COUGH* Another piece of advice would be to actually do your homework. Don't just copy the answers off the wiki, DON'T BE LAZY AND JUST DO IT. You're 8th graders now, I think you should be responsible enough to even do your homework. Cause if you don't, you're in trouble for high school...
***And that's what I would say to the upcoming 7th graders for ALGEBRA...

...This is common sense. OF COURSE I will work to the end. If I give up, what good was all that time and effort I used to come all this way? Two things I'd do differently from what I've done all year? Hmm... I would have done my homework at NIGHT instead of the morning. Second of all, I should have been a little bit neater when I showed my homework to the teacher. :D It was sometimes really hard for him to read my work. :D But it has improved tremendously, so I don't think I would have to worry about it in high school.

I don't really think this is a lame answer... :D IT'S AN AMAZING ANSWER. SO THAT MEANS I GET AN AMAZING GRADE, RIGHT MR. JOBE?! :D Thank you for teaching us this school year~

-Oh, and this is Jane... Sorry for not mentioning my name in my last blog. ^_^

  5. Three Adjectives: Excited, Happy, Exhausted

I can't really give advice to 7th graders because I'm a 7th grader and they wouldn't listen to me, but... If I were to give some advice to the 7th graders, I would tell them to make sure that they understand concepts before they take quizzes or tests. To do that, they should ask questions to Mr. Jobe... if they have questions of course, which I think many of them will. I would also tell them to DO THEIR HOMEWORK because homework plays an important part in your grade. Missing one homework assignment should be okay, but if you miss a lot of homework assignments... Good luck with that.

I don't think I'm tired enough to give up just yet. As long as I do as I've done the whole year, I think I'll be alright. But since it's the end of the year, I should be a little more cautious, so I'll make sure to double-check and triple-check my work on the more confusing problems. I think I'll also ask Mr. Jobe about things that I don't know at lunch time or after school. I haven't really been doing that this year. -_-

Hopefully, I'll survive through the rest of school...

  6. To seventh grade, I would suggest to preview before the class, even if it is 5 minutes because if you understand the concept and take class, it will be really helpful to understand and will make you not confused with those concepts.
I will work hard until the end. I didn't study for test or quiz at all this year. Sometimes, I had bad grades, so I would want to review and then take a test or quiz. Also, if I have some parts that I do not understand or get confused, I will ask teacher again after school or during lunch.

  7. 1. Three Adjectives- 1)Excited 2)Worried 3) A bit tired

    2. Don't do your work Messy ..... It really messes up the whole thing and you get to do a lot of mistakes :( I kinda regret for what i did.

    3. I will try to keep up the work. I will try to keep my math work neat and clean. And I will try to not to make mistakes in problems. I think my problem is that I know the material, but I make mistakes on easy stuff. :(

  9. Tired, tired, and tired.

You REALLY should work hard. I know that most of you go to hakwons, unlike me, and may have already learned some of the stuff we do in 8th grade, but hakwon and school are not the same. Even if they are teaching the same subject different teachers have different styles of teaching, and you should work hard to catch up with the class.

I REALLY should work hard(lol pun). I should stop forgetting my homework or just not do it because I'm lazy(...). And the projects. I really should check the due dates...

  10. I feel scared, relieved, and worried.
I didn't go to any hagwons during the school year, but I'd still like to tell them that concepts and math may be taught differenty in hagwon and school. It is always important to also learn the method used by your teacher than stick with one, because there may be easier methods you can use. Don't be afraid to go and ask questions whenever you have any, and don't be lazy when doing so. Just because you're tired or too lazy to visit the class, that doesn't mean you can't go ask for help. Also, when asking questions, keep asking until you fully understand the concept.
To tell the truth, I am actually really tired from math because it is my least favourite and weakest subject, but I will still try until the end, because I've already come this far. It won't do me any good to give up now.
Two things I will do differenty is that I will: 1. organize my time and manage it better, and 2. I will constantly take notes even if they are the smallest things.

I feel burdened, relieved, and motivated.

As advice to the 7th graders I would like to say... Don't lose your textbook and maybe study Algebra beforehand so you could get a glimpse of what you will learn. Sometimes, we go by the chapters so quick that you might learned something wrong or just not understand the concept of the chapter.

Well, if I give up now, my grade will plummet to the ground and that is not a good choice. Something differently I will do for the rest of the year is to BRING my textbook and maybe find my original...? Another thing would be redoing the homework problems that I get wrong because sometimes although I understand the concept I get many of the homework problems wrong because of silly mistakes.

  12. determined, excited, relieved (that I made it!)

My biggest mistake was not paying full attention in class, and not doing my homework. Things you learn in hagwons and things you learn here are different. Although they may be similar concepts, there are always different things that the teacher requires you to do. Also, do your homework. I haven't done my homework for four times and I saw my grade plummet..... :(

I will work hard until the end and doing all the bonus I can. I will also try to stop talking in class and focus on what we are learning in class.

  13. Relieved, Excited, Determined

My advice to the next year 8th graders are that you MUST DO YOUR HW!! I've seen my grade plummet after not doing my homework 4 times. :( Things you learn in hagwon and things you learn here are different. Although some concepts may be similar, the teachers expect you to do something they specifically told you to do.

I will have to try my best. My grade went down after giving up a little, and I will have to do my best on everything else I can do. I will focus and not talk in class while Mr. Jobe is teaching, and do best on everything else I can do.

  15. 1. I feel troubled, relieved, and grateful (that we're near the end)

    2. My advice to seventh graders is to do your homework! It really helps you understand the chapter more deeply since practice makes perfect! I also think asking questions would be really helpful though I'm not good at it either:(

    3. I was slacking off a bit but I'll try harder in this chapter! I'll try doing my homework thoroughly and pay more attention in class.

  16. worried, tired, exhausted

For 7th grader, I would recommend them having a notebook rather than binders. Notebook is easier to keep in track and easy to find your homework. I also recommend them to review as hard as you can to prepare for the test.

I don't think I should give up now. My test grades are getting lower because I do not have enough time to finish. I am very weak at mental math, which tkaes up lot of time during the test. I should still try my best even though my grades are below my expectation.

    1) LIsten during classes, Hakwon honestly does help only a little bit. Just do you home work on time and i honestly think if you just do your homework properly

    2) Work hard till the end because the finals is the one that really matters and ill try to do better till the end
